Starting this season and the announcement of the newly created Pure Stock Class has been accepted with great response. The Pure Stock Class is a step below the already exciting Super Stock Class that was created just last year. “I think we will begin the season with a healthy number of Pure Stocks. Many of which were already built but some have been started from the ground up” said David Peterson. Father/Son duo’s Dusty and Dean Smith (Delta, UT) as well as Tim and Timothy Holden (Mt Pleasant, UT) will try to keep the battle within the family as they race against each other throughout the year.
Opening weekend presented by Cardwell Distributing, April 19-20th, will be a great kick off for the 2013 season, as MCR will be the host of the first IMCA sanctioned race for the Modified and Southern Sport Modified Classes in the state. Last year during the opening weekend attracted top racers from Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico, it is expected that the same top talent will be in attendance in during year’s event.
The highly anticipated mid-season Super Stock Challenge Race sponsored by Hunter Machine will be June 22nd. Along with the Super Stocks, MCR will be proud to hold the first Wing Sprint Car race held in the state on dirt in the past few years, as well as the Pure Stock Class.
Modified Madness at the Millard County Fair with the Wild West Modified Tour will be another weekend full of racing on August 2-3rd. The WWMT is a touring series for IMCA Modifieds that run throughout the region and will be sure to bring great racing action with top drivers from the surrounding states. The WWMT will return Oct 4-5th for their year-end All-Star Race.
Classes that will be running at MCR throughout the year will be Quarter Midgets, Dwarf Cars, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Thunder Trucks, Super Stocks, Sport Modifieds, and Modifieds.
